Custom built tailgate. Pics inside
I had an old tailgate off my dads truck that I dented right in the center. I cut the v in it (right where the dent was). Made the peices for the inside. welded them in. bondo'd it and had it painted. a couple of toolbox handles and it was ready to go.

I keep looking at tailgates but definetly want to go vented. Fighting a 25 mph headwind a couple years ago in Kansas (OEM tailgate installed) I got
, pulled off on a ramp, removed the tailgate and strapped it down flat inside the box.I gained 3 mph! On the last couple trips I left the tailgate in the garage but don't really like the back end totally open. Considered using some wide metal closet shelving as opposed to a $200+ vented aftermarket. I've seen some homebuilts but most look cheesier than a 'paint to match' closet shelf.
Your custom tailgate reminds me of the Ford factory sponsored F250-350 utility box that was offered a couple years ago. The bed area was narrower like a utility box but the sides had compartments and drawers that used the SuperDuty box exterior sheet metal. You had to look twice to realize it wasn't factory.
Nice Job!
