Question ABS Fail

It finally happened! 5yrs and 5,000 miles later I get a ABS light come on at startup C-1145 'right front'. No big deal until I check everything and find I can't get the Wheel Sensor connector apart on the frame! Does anybody know if it's one of those that have glue inside and need to be heated up first? 02 E150 4wABS

No glue or other adhesive inside those----should be a silicone rubber seal around one side of the mating pair to prevent water and other road crap getting inside the connector body.

I'd suggest gently heating the connector body with a hair dryer (preferred) or adjustable heat gun on a very low setting. I've done this several times on similar connectors to good effect. Don't be surprised if one or both halves break during the process----for better or worse replacement body/chassis side connectors readily available.

This catalog: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/pu...torcatalog.pdf, already part of the tech folder here. Its been very helpful in the past finding part numbers which tend to have many brand alternatives to the Ford OEM or Motorcraft brands.

Should the body side part need replaced soldering and adhesive shrink tube is a great idea just as are heat-shrink crimps IF you have the proper crimping tool.

Yeah should be a simple thing with just one tab lock, even if the pins are rusted together I should be able to get it to move a little with a pair of pliers. I haven't had a heat gun or a propane torch for 25+ yrs and would have to go out and buy one....lol, just trying to save a buck! I'm going to replace all 3 while I'm under there...............

Well I got brave and went out with my trusty razor knife and carved it off piece by piece, it had something in it but would just flake off when touched. Even with the Female connector completely cut off I had to use both hands to twist and pull it apart before it let go, wiped the male connector off and it still looks like new inside and out, and this is on a really super clean 02 w/52,000 miles............
