I have a 2012 and enabled the soot percent screen. So on my 2012 it does give you the ability to do this but you have to be paying attention. Meaning it will flash a "clean now" on the dash and if you hold the ok button in then it will ask you "is exhaust clear" hold ok again with truck siting in park and it will blow the POS out. Anyway that's how it's working for me,.

I beg to differ, but I've got a 2012 Lariat, and I've activated the manual regenerate via forscan. Once it hits 85%, I get the option to manually regenerate. Don't know how the op's truck was programmed, but mine works as advertised.
