Flare side bed measurement

I cant measure mine as it is apart at this time.
I need to know how wide it is between the walls at the floor and how long it is from front wall to rear lip.

I believe the walls sit on top of the wood and that is fine so to the outside walls is what I need.

If anyone also wants to get a style side long or short bed would be fine so if others are looking for them they will be in 1 post. It would have measurements of the wide part of the bed and between the inner fender wells. I do have a long bed but it is full of parts and will be some time before I can get it empty to measure.

I got some things rolling around inside my head but need the flare side measurements.
Thanks

I want to use the floor of the LB SS for the SB FS to replace the wood.
Bolt the walls to the metal ribbed floor.
I have been known to do some crazy things!

I put the original dimensions for the 3 piece board set from the factory in this post.

Why did I not think of that
Thanks will go look now
Dave ----

edit: from the link I come up with 53" for the wood but now that I think of it there is a gap between the 3 parts of wood anyone know what that gap is?
If I add 1/2" for each total of 1" + 53" would be 54" from wall to wall.
Is that right for a flare side?

That should work, but I would add an inch if you can for error. Remember you will have to cut it out around the wheels.

The wheel well area will not be a big issue as I think I will need to add metal in that area for the FS bed side to bolt to.

Next time I am out in the garage I will get measurements of my SS bed floor from the under side and see what I am up against.

Just a thought I can also measure the front wall of my FS to see how wide it is.

54" wall to wall is correct. I remember this figure well from searching for a junkyard tailgate.

Thanks that helps now to measure the style side to see if I can make this work.

I need another measurement from a flare side bed as I don't have a complete one to get it from.

As posted in #2 Thinking of using the LB metal floor in place of the wood for now so I can drive the truck as I will have to save up $$ for fixing it right.

Anyway the measurement I "think" I need is from the frame at the bed mount locations to the underside of the wood bed floor plus the wood to the top.

The "think" is the flare side bed sides I think sit on top of the wood. So if I mount/blot my sides to the LB metal floor will it sit at the right height for body lines to line up. If they need to go up I can shim the cross braces up but cant lower if need to be.

See where I am going with this? I will try and get measurements from my LB and post them up.
Thanks

OK when out in the garage today I got measurements of the LB from frame to floor at all the cross braces some did not have bolts to hold the bed on.

Just ruff measurements, starting at the rear of the bed working forward
X = brace with bolt

XTail gate = 2-3/8"
#2 = 2-3/8"
X#3 = 2"
X#4 = 2-1/4"
#5 = 3"
X#6 = 3"
Floor ridge = 3/8"

If someone can get measurements at each brace from top of frame to floor bottom would help me a lot.
Thanks

My truck is in the shop or I'd get these for you - should have it back next week.

Question though: wondering if you're overthinking it a bit? Assuming the 3/4" plywood which fits under the bedsides and over the crossbraces - we know that's a constant thickness. The metal floor is always going to be thinner than that, so you'll be able to shim in each spot as needed, just under 3/4". Am I overlooking something?

Maybe I am over thinking this, don't know?

My FS did not have any of the stock cross rails/cross braces or wood between the ones on the truck & frame like I have seen it should be. The wood was just planks they screwed to the 2x2 square cross rails. The rails where bolted to the frame but not in the factory holes, they drilled new holes and bolt/nut the 2x2 in place. Yep it was a mess!

I figured the wood to be 1/2" to 3/4" that the FS bed sides & ends sit on top of. The thing I am not sure of is the metal cross rails/cross braces, how high they are that the wood sits on top of and how different they are between the 2 different truck beds.

This is the plan this style side long bed has 1 side caved in from the roll over and the other side I am going to cut out 1 or both fuel filler doors to add 1 to the flare side for the duel tanks. The floor has been bed lined and is in great shape. Then I was going to cut the sides off so I had just the floor left. I want to bolt this to my short bed truck frame and then lay the FS bed sides & ends on it as if the metal floor was the wood.

With that said if the FS measurements are close or even better shorter I can shim up the metal floor between the frame & cross rails to get the bed fender lines to line up with the cab lines.

Because of cash or lack of I cant get all the needed parts to get the FS bed back in shape to be bolted back on the way it should and I don't really want to make a wood flat bed. Being cheap and having the SS bed I figured I could use it.........maybe?

No rush on measurements I have a lot of other things I can work on before the bed.
Thanks

Just a little bump from page 9
It would be nice if someone could get measurements at the braces so I can see just how different they may be between the 2 beds so I can figure a game plan.

Little bump to see if I can get the measurements I need from a flare side bed truck.

I need measurements at the bed cross members from the top of frame to bottom of wood flooring.
I have been told the wood is about 3/4" thick so I should be able to figure if I can use the style side bed floor as I want.

Thanks

I forgot who got the measurements from, thank you again, but here they are.
Anyway, from front toback on the LH side, frame to bottom of wood floor is 3", 2.5",2", and 3".

The style side bed braces measure about the same, top of frame to bottom of floor.
The floor I am working with has LineX bed liner and can be 1/8" to over 1/4" thick.
So once I have the fenders on the side panels and everything on the truck to see if the fender lines line up with the cab lines I will not know how far off they may be? If anything thing the fenders may be too low by 1/2" and I can use blocks between bed floor & frame.

I can also tell you the last 3 braces (tail gate end) with the bolts, line up to the short bed frame holes. Only the front 2 braces had to be removed, 2nd back was in the way to mount the 1st brace with the bolts.

Still need to do final fitting to the floor but it should work out great.
