I'm not up to speed on all the latest, but didn't the current "SuperDuty" come out as a 98 model? Or did they skip a year. Also didn't Ford offer a Superduty option for several years on the previous body style? I remember seeing early to mid 90s SuperDuty F-450s with a solid front axle and leaf springs, maybe F-350s also. I get a little confused since it seems the newer models have taken over the SuperDuty designation and now it is just a way of identifying that body style and really doesn't refer to the special heavy duty package.
There were no 98 models, Ford went from the 97s to the 99s in Mar.? 98. From 12/8/98 on, those are commonly referred as 99.5s. That is when the air box changed from the wheel well intake to the front grille, as well as some other minor mods.
The Superduty series have leaf springs v. the coil springs found on the 150 and light duty 250s, hence the SDs "ride like a truck."
