Which parts?
Ok I have a f-450 2005 6.0 / 87,000 miles
I have a couple questions and need to know from you experts!
1. Which oil cooler do you recommend dorman or oem?
2. What coolant filter is recommended? Dieselstop?
3. This truck is a tow truck so I want to know also what the benifits are of just doing an updated egr cooler from bullet proof diesel vs egr delete?
The reason I ask these questions is my local shop is recommending a dorman oil cooler and no need for a coolant filter. From what I have read dorman has problems or at least from what I read in older 2010-2012 posts. So what the current situation with these and from what I read coolant filter is a must. Correct?
Please let me know, thanks

2. It doesn't really matter, all the bypass setups do the same thing, and really don't do much unless you have a ton of casing sand. Changing to a Cat EC-1 rated ELC coolant that's sillicate free and distilled water instead of using Ford Gold and tap water will net a better result with a lower likelyhood of the new oil cooler having a silicate gel problem. I have a filter, never really got anything out of it. Honestly I don't think it's must have.
3. Not sure there are any benefits to keeping vs deleting unless you have inspections. You can weld the cooler shut and leave it in place and avoid having to buy a kit or replace the up-pipe.
I think I'm just going to put a coolant filter on just for peace of mind. I totally for got that the egr cooler could be welded shut. Thank you for the reminder!!
Couple more questions and I'll be happy with what I decide.
1. Anybody have the upgraded oem oil cooler part#?
2. Is there a how to on where and how to weld the egr cooler closed?
3. The cat-ec1 ELC is what that coolant is called?
Big thank you to Texastech and to all that's helps me out!!

EC-1 is the rating specification. Multiple brands of coolant meet that spec, jsut google "coolant ec-1" and you'll find several. I use Zerex:
Valvoline? ZEREX? Extended Life Antifreeze / Coolant : Product Catalog - Valvoline®
Rotella brand:
Shell Rotella ELC Antifreeze, 1 gal. - For Life Out Here
