I have a 99 ford ranger 2.5l, had a code p1401, so replaced the dpfe valve and while doing so found a broken wire on connector to it. So replaced the pigtail for it. Now I have no codes but when I went to emissions after repair it said it was not ready. I drove it around doing errands one day then drove it down the freeway approximately 20 miles each way. Went to emissions and still said not ready. Does anyone know what I have to do to get it through emissions. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I think you need to complete the 'drive cycle', which includes stops, shutdowns, idle periods, acceleration to freeway speeds, slow downs, etc etc etc.
Most techs have figured out a 'route' near their workplace that will exercise all the required sequences. Some will give hints or directions to fulfill the requirements.
Just drive some more, take some short shopping trips, and a bit of freeway, and add in some 'town' driving at lower speeds, with 'stop signs' interspersed. It is kind of a pain.
