needing help also

I too am considering switching from my 19' bumper pull to a 5er on my '15 4x4 CCSB 6.7 auto. I hadnt thought about fuel tank. I get about 10mpg towing now at 5k lbs. I didnt think the 6.7 would notice a 10k lb trailer much more.
Am I wrong? Is the mileage gonna be worthless? How does a SRW handle a 5er? Should I just stick with a bumper pull 30' or under and under 10k?

The problem is the frontal area of the 5th wheel. Mine is almost 13' high. So pulling it through the wind is what kills the mileage. I still get over 10mpg but I'm pretty easy on it and rarely break 65mph. So the weight is only a concern when you are worried about overloading the rear axle and tires. The short bed won't matter with new 5th wheels with rounded fronts. I towed one for thousands of miles with my first SD and a short bed without incident.

A SRW will haul many if not most 5ers just fine. As far as fuel mileage - that will probably stay in the 10-11mpg range if mine is any kind of a measure (I'll run up to 12+ on occasion). The 5er I'm talking about is in my sig and avatar and in my opinion is probably close to about what I'm comfortable with both weight and length though others can and do haul more and are happy. As far as meeting or exceeding the door frame sticker for weight carrying ability - that's another story.......

I have a '12 F350 SRW with a Titan tank and the B&W hitch. The tank wouldn't affect the hitch install because the extra space is gained forward of the stock tank - it doesn't go any further back or any wider than the stock tank (it's a bit lower too). I now have at least 300 miles range under worst towing conditions (usually 400).
