While you could just install them as is, covering them in material is easy and would look and feel much, much nicer. Raw ABS will feel out of place in a 60 year old truck.
I glued black Alcarta onto my roof panel. I used a simple spray adhesive. And it was pretty simple. I just did it one side at a time using just one piece of material.
I will say make sure to get a good quality adhesive and make sure it's the strongest strength possible. I ran out half way through of one can and used another. Both said permanent bond. But over the summer with the heat build up in the cab some of the glue on the lesser strength side did not hold up and the headliner is sagging now so I have to do it over again.
