How to replace dually brakes

How to replace dually brakes

I'm in the process of changing front and rear brakes. I did not anticipate this to be a difficult task(removing hubs etc) however it appears to be. Anyone has video(s) or picture walk through of the process? Do I need to disconnect ABS and other lines ?
Also, I cannot get any power tool to remove the inner nuts, what is the process? only way to is to put in extension through the hole?perhaps?

why do you need to remove all that? Just take the caliper off and change the pads.

Yea no kidding, it's really very easy. The problem sometime arrises when they haven't been change in a long time and you have some rusty bolts to deal with. Some WD or Blaster sprayed on them will help. Do yourself a favor, look on youtube and just type in "brake install on F250/350" it will be right there and walk you throught the whole process. By the way, use quality brake pads like Performance Friction or Hawk.......or of course you could buy Motrocraft.

ok, I got the passenger side done. Here are some pictures.
You need powertools. There is no way to get the nuts out. BTW, it is 21mm and heavy duty to say the least.


Use soft hammer to get it all loose and it will slide out. Once here, the process of replacing will be same as SWR.

Put the new disc ( how to remove etc? just google).


Something that puzzle me ...look at the torque spec


The repair manual torq spec is a little "off". My torque wrench is rated at 150 LBS tops. I doubt the caliper bolts are torqued that high...anyway I tightened as much as could...

Those torque specs are correct. The pictures indicate we are working on a 1999 to 2004 model year F-350 DRW. To torque the hub extender nuts without using an impact air tool, simply place a long pry bar between a couple of wheel studs so that it wedges itself against the ground to prevent it from moving as you final tighten all eight of those nuts.

Oh, rotor change as well! Your first pic the rotor looked fine.

I don't change them unless needed. Looks like you are going for a set of rotors and pads.

Be sure to bleed out all the old fluid at each wheel. That fluid is probably black by now.
