I joined this site several months ago, while looking for 48 to 52 Ford or Merc 1/2 ton. My story is similar to others, as I grew up in rural Saskatchewan and my father always had Ford or Merc trucks for the farm. I learned to drive a 52 Ford F-6 3 ton when I was about 12. I wanted a Canadian built truck, from Saskatchewan which was restored to original, or a mild resto-mod with the flathead. My journey lead me to meet several interesting people, from an 83 year old Farmer with a 52 Merc stored for the last 40 years (see avatar photo), to Victoria to met a man who built 22 1934 Ford Roadsters with a 52 Merc M1. I met a retired man from Calgary selling a 52 Merc M1, whose parents turned out to be good friends with my grandparents in Saskatoon when they were alive. Last week, I met a fellow with a restored 1951 F-1 Five Star Extra cab, who was selling due to personal health reasons. Yesterday, my wife and I became the next owners of the truck and look forward to showing and sharing the truck at shows, cruises etc. I started out searching for a 52 Merc M1 Five Star Extra cab, but couldn't pass up this one as it was the nicest one I have found. I look forward to meeting other Sask Forum members and sharing information.
I brought the truck into Regina today from about an hour east the city. It cruises about 50 - 55 mph with no problems. I took the wife for a ride down to "the Ledge" (provincial capital building) and cruised around the lake this evening. It was nice to see people smiling and we got a few "thumbs up". We saw another F series ('53-'55 as i didn't see the grill) going down Albert. Nice to see someone else out enjoying their "effie".
Nice to hear that you are enjoying your truck Tien.
I plan to cruise a bit more in my 53 M100 this summer, 50 - 55 mph is a nice speed to view scenery.
