Soooo, the wifes 77' strated spewing massive amounts of oil out of the valve cover breather, and when the valve cover breather was replaced with a second PCV valve, it spewed out of the dip stick tube. Something is wrong for sure! Well, the easiest thing to do was to put Elphaba on the road in its place. So here she is, in all her glory...
So there was some actual effort in getting her back on the road. The list included..
Head and tail lights, bulbs.
Transmission lines.
Dash reinstalled.
Interior wiring.
Hood back on.
Ignition switch hooked up.
Brake light switch.
Tires pulled from 77" and put on her.
Tune up.
Tail light pig tail installed.
Steering wheel replaced.
Shift linkage hooked up properly to the new steering column.
This truck has a 360, 2bbl, AT, and the wiring harness from a 78" F100. Also includes a HEI dizzy, Xenon sealed headlamps and a 3G upgrade. Tomorrow she will be registered and become a daily driver. Much more to come as things get fixed and replaced. after seeing how good she looks right now, I kinda regret giving her to the wifey! Not bad for about 15 hours work to get her moving again.
I love that the 43 year old paint still has a sparkle when washed. What I love most about these old trucks is that the wife gets out there and does her own work. She did all the wiring and interior installation, including pulling the taillight harness out of the donor truck so the tail lights would work.

Attaboy and Attagirl! Nice job to both of you tag-teaming to get her roadworthy.
"... giving her to the wifey"?... in CA what is yours is also hers.
So.... what are the plans for the 77? Eventually rebuild the engine? Swap it for something different? Or use the truck as a parts rig?
She wants to try her hand at rebuilding an engine herself. If anyone recalls, she did the body swap herself (I lended a strong back and some guidance), she completely did the interior including new carpet and restitched the seat from the original and a junkyard donor. She also did some body work, paint and sanding on another hood for it. I have no doubts she can get it back on the road.
Well I for one think that's great. Good for her as well. Sounds like she isn't afraid to try something new. And yeah I remember her doing all the work on that truck herself. That's part of why I asked what the plans were for this truck. Too many times I've seen other people go through similar situations to this and then scrap there vehicle as they deem it costing them to much $$$. Or they just don't want to be bothered.

Your wife definitely sounds like a keeper.
You've got a good one.
