Good to hear that you found what you were looking for and got a great deal
Like I said above (and got stumped on) sometimes it's worth some down time to look around and do some shopping.
The way you wrote about the radio.........you did, or didn't spent that on it???
My smart phone is fine for me on getting around, and I do get around a lot lately.
Gee.........from where Ephrata Pa is, maybe I should stop by and see this new van on my way home next week from King of Prussia, it's on the way back to Buffalo.......
From working out of my, new to me '05 with the Reading side boxes, is getting very convenient, I don't have to clime into the back much, and just picking the right door for what your looking for is coming more common.
No way I'm paying that much for a radio. I will go to Best Buy and a couple other places first. I not an electronics guy but I think I can figure out how to install a radio. The price for the actual radio is on par with prices online but I don't want to pay that much. The radio was $650 and everything else is parts and labor.
The van is at my house now, not in Ephrata, that dealer was the only one within 200 miles to have a van with the aluminum body.
So after my first week of van ownership, I love working out of this thing, I should have done it a long time ago. So I ordered some air bags, they came in on the brown truck Friday afternoon, didn't get a chance to put them on yet. I am still organizing the tools, trying different setups and at the same time trying to keep the load balanced side to side. I do have a little sway when cornering but I expected that and thats why I got the bags. I can't believe Ford doesn't put sway bars on these cutaways. I got the van weighed and it came in at 8350lbs, I want to keep it right around 8500lbs so I still have some capacity for materials. I also bought a Kenwood DDX 373BT at Best Buy. Really easy to install but I ran into a snag, the antenna cable is not the same as the new radio. I went to 5 different stores to find the right adapter but nobody seems to have it. I have more time in running around looking for the adapter than installing the radio. I need to get a back up camera and I need to get my exterior work lights fired up.
Told you that you would like working out of this thing
No more climbing in and out of the box, just walk up to the compartment and get what you need........if you can remember what compartment you put it in.....took me a while to get that down........
Before you add the air bags, you should check out this.....Link.
I think much better than the air bags, I put this on my '92 cube with slightly sagging springs, and improved the ride and body roll 200%.
Don't have to mess around with air and such, plus if you do use the air bags, install them as separated lines (right side and left side)
When I bought my 14 dually, I got the stable loads which are kind of similar. After 2 years of use 2 of them cracked almost all the way through. I went with the stable loads to avoid using air bags to try to simplify things. I have used air bags for years in previous trucks and in hind sight should have used bags on the 14. Air bags are infinitely adjustable and I like having them. I will put on the bags and then see if I need a sway bar.
Stereo is installed and looks and works good. I went back to Best Buy and got the right adapter, it wasn't on the shelf out front but rather they had them in back where the installer works.
It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Wanted to give everyone an update. The brake controller the dealer installed was worthless, I used it once and it worked fine, went to tow again about a month later and it was dead. I ordered a p3 from etrailer and it’s awesome. The dealer installed it on the panel below the steering column and didn’t leave enough slack in the wires to get the panel off. So when I got the p3 I just installed it on top of the dash right above where the factory brake controller would have been. I got the parts from Ford to install the steering stabilizer. Thanks to whoever made that list of parts, really made life easy. I installed the stabilizer under an hour. The frame already has the holes for it and they are the right size, I just ran a tap through the holes, super easy. The stabilizer didn’t really make a difference in normal driving but when it got windy the other day, it was a blessing, huge difference. So glad I did this.
i currently have just over 17k on it now and it’s running great. I need to make some cabinets for the back, and I need some exterior lights on the side yet. I have lights on the back. I’m so glad I bought this van, should have done it a long time ago.
