Doing a little maintenance
Not fixing anything besides a little annoying squeal from the engine belt area during steep long hills towing with the fan at full speed.
Also some sloppy steering...
Also an oil change, fuel filter
Parts I'm doing,
Belt system:
-2 new Ford belt tensioners
-2 new Gates fleet runner green belts
-all five idler pulleys are getting new bearings
-Bulletproof Diesel 7.3l fan clutch adapter
-7.3l fan clutch
-doing a coolant flush with Zerex G-05 coolant and distilled water.
For the steering:
-All New tire rods
-track bar ball joint
-Energy suspension Polyurethane track bar bushing
-Also after installation will be having it aligned also...
So far I have every thing taken apart and cleaned up waiting for installation.
And pics... (Not sure what order the phone will post them, Sorry)
The worst part was dealing with the track bar...
The ball joint was a pain in the *** to get out. I tried using a press but ended up using a BFH a sledge to be exact to get that thing out...putting the new one in wasn't much hassle the ball joint press worked pretty well installing it.
Then on to the bushing on the track bar... Ended up cutting and chiseling it out. That was fun....not! I ended up using the ball joint press installing the new Energy suspension bushing into the track bar so that worked out pretty well.
I can already tell I'm going to really like the 7.3l fan clutch! during my coolant flushes, driving I had a hard time getting the temp above 200 degrees. I really had to push it hard up some long hills to get in the upper 190's. With the old clutch that wouldn't have been an issue at all... Can't wait to tow with it!
Here are some pics...
