Question Guidance

I am getting ready to embark on a steering gear replacement and I am wondering if there are any step-by-step that anyone has done? I have to also get a steering gear, are there any suggestions for a quality one. I have '03 6.0 with RWD. I see that there are two part numbers offered by Ford, which is the right number? Also, any other suggestions before tackling this time of fun?

Thank you. When I tackle this, are there any other areas/parts I need to pay attention to?

Make sure you have some kind of plastic bags to use to cover off the ends of the lines that go into the box before you remove them. Seal each one as you remove it. Less mess.

That makes sense. I do appreciate everyone's input. I also see that there is definitely a mixture of thought on the brand of steering gear. Of course, like everything else each person will have a different experience. So on the professional/mechanical level, is there a particular brand that has proven more successful in '03's than others?

I went with an O'Rielly remanned one.

140.00 and a lifetime warranty!

I use a hand held suction gun and pulled out all of the fluid from the reservoir. Undo the lines cover the ends and bag them and put them out of the way.
