Engine power increase?

So has anyone actually seen the engine specs for 2017 Superduty yet? I know there was a lot speculated increases. No 2017 brochures out there yet.

Nothing yet. Likely in July when they start getting built.

Well the chassis cab is going to be 330 hp and 750 lb-ft so a 30/90 jump

I'd expect about half that to make it to the pickup with a 470/925 rating. I'm sure ford is fully prepared to crank 950 out of this motor but will make a nominal increase as a marketing ploy.

Why give everyone 950 when 925 beats ram? if ram strikes back with 930 then Ford switches some 1s and 0s in the computer and you've got 950 and right back on top of the torque game. They played the same game in 2011 when this new generation of engines came out.

A thousand is such a nice round number. It's beautiful. Or 999 is memorable, although maybe a little too similar to 666 for the marketing guys.

You all realize you will never even get to see those numbers in real life, right.

Probably true.

My guess is we won't see anything until GM releases the numbers on their new Duramax and gas engine and that will not happen until August.

My best Guess is June for the power update info. That is about the time my local dealer will take my order and order for themselves.

most engine strategies limit power in 1st and 2nd gear and if you try to floor it you will simply down shift and hang around the rev limiter. It's the same for any engine gas or auto, there's been a few discussions about it especially on the Ram forums since they are king of the hill right now. Also look at the ram manual you can put all the power to the ground in what ever gear or RPM you choose and notice it's de-rated to something like 650.

You are right. Those numbers will be at the crank, not at the rear wheels.

Figure 15%-20%-ish loss for an automatic transmission drivetrain.

Still, bragging rights are bragging rights, I guess.

Exactly the reason I drive in M 90% of the time. When I want power I know precisely where the engine will give it to me. Spend some time towing something heavy and you can easily feel where in the speed/rpm range we get max output from whatever it has available. The biggest obstacle is to learn where the converter locks up, wait for it and then hammer down. The M shift behavior in ram and gm is a joke but ford really did a good job of giving us an honest manual shift, I pray it doesn't change.

There are 2017 brochures at the dealer -- I've looked through one. They are, however, very non-descript when it comes to horsepower and torque. In fact their terminology is "TBD".

Specs will be out -- like someone said earlier -- probably in July. We can wait.

My dealer dropped off one of the brochures yesterday, nothing we really haven't already seen.

I asked him when the '17's were going to start showing up at the dealership, he said "November".
