Well guy I've already done a lot of work to my dd and I'm finishing up my regular cab I've got sold but now it's time to build my little brother a truck he just got his license not to long ago and he's been driving a 97 Camaro he traded his 300ex for and just decided he wants a truck well it just so happens that a Friend of mine wrecked his obs regular cab and decided to sell it he sold the Dana 60 and the rearend already and sold the tranny before we could get s offer in so we bought it it definitely needs frame but it just so happens I have a rolling chassi already for it just gotta prep a few things for it were trying to find a tranny but we're waiting for him to sell his car were really considering a axle swap either 99 plus leaf sprung axles or 05 plus axles as that's what's I put under mine and it would be easy to do while the frame is bare but we will see it's gonna be fun build and nice for him to have a truck I'll post pics this weekend for u guys but progress will be slow till he sells his car as that will be where his funds come from but we're picking up the wrecked truck this weekend and gonna park it beside the rolling chassi and then we're gonna start collecting parts
Were also planing on efuel and 4in exhaust which I already have pipe for and the hole frame is getting rust primered and painted black will probably undercoat cab as well it'll be a big project but be cool specially since its for my brother I'm sure after this ones done I'm gonna half to help build one for my youngest brother next these trucks are in my blood I guess
I'm gonna get pics this weekend when I get home I'm at school at the moment but I'm still finishing up my other build gonna get him started while I finish other build then we will go fuel throttle on his once my other build is done and he's got the cash
Well sorry guys no pics yet but my brother almost has other frame ready to start transferring parts where swapping the rearend with my old one that's limited slip and gonna rust primer and paint the new frame and hopefully then we will install new fuel tank and wiring and the engine but I'll get pics tomorrow and we picked up the wrecked truck yesterday it was interesting loading it with no axles but we got it but I'll get pics tomorrow I've got a feeling that with two builds going on its gonna get really confusing real quick
Here's some pics I'll get some more today of the wrecked truck we swapped my old limited slip 10.25 in to and wire brushed the frame and rust treated the new frame to and painted it
I'll get another pic of it in the morning but we got the wrecked truck unloaded and engine almost out of it just gotta undo the fuel lines and it'll be good to come out then wher gonna set it in the new frame
I could be way wrong, but I recall reading something where a ZF6 wasn't a direct swap in. I think it required some modification on something that was partially annoying.
I remember reading someone saying they didn't think it was worth putting the ZF6 in place of a ZF5.
I think a 6 speed would be pretty cool, but I don't know what complications there may be (if any.)
It's a direct bolt in to the engine but the cross member would half to be moved and custom drive shafts made both of witch do not bother me at all especially since where starting at the ground up like this
Well here's some pics we got the engine out and in new frame but we are going to pic it back up and pressure wash it atleast the lower half and there's a pic of the passenger side frame rail wow he hit hard
Well we taped all the important stuff up on the engine and pressure washed it then we let it dry and then sprayed engine degresare on it and where letting it sit over night then gonna scrub it and spray it again it works great our pressure washer has hot water so it'll look brand new then we will cremaic coat the exhaust and up pipes
