In case someone stumbles across this thread later on, I'll post what fixed it (I posted the results in my other thread on this forum but know how frustrating it is when searching and never finding answers in the threads!)
For some reason, my IDM failed. Swapping it out with a different one cured the problem and the truck fires up great now! I wish I knew what made it fail so I could prevent it, but I'm glad it's running now!
Yeah I read moisture can do it. I did wash the truck a day prior to the IDM failing, but I didn't open the hood. It's not that sensitive to getting wet is it? I would think maybe if the connection is unplugged for a while or loose maybe it could do it, but now I'm kinda scared to wash my truck!
My guess is because you live in AZ something shorted out. I read where guys have taken them apart and dumped out water, dried them and put them back in and they worked! They are tough!
Uh oh... if something shorted out that means it may happen again then right?
I hope that's not the case, but I guess I'll find out....
The IDM on the truck wasn't the stock one with the motor, so it's been replaced before. I'll enjoy this time now while it's working though and take a peek here and there to see if anything noticeable is up with the wiring.
Edit: As a cool sidenote, the overhead console I had installed previously (years ago with the 302 motor) wasn't showing any temperatures or compass directions. After putting the other IDM in, I noticed it now shows the temperature and compass direction! I know it's completely unrelated, but I'm glad it's working again! That means I have more wiring compatibility than I thought. I suppose the power wire to the GPS/temp sensor may be a little loose, but it's nice having that luxury again.
Nice powerstroke bronco.... looks like there are not many of us out there. !!! Here is mine.
That's pretty nice! I've wanted one of those for a while now as well! Those will be a little harder to come by though. I saw a centurion for sale here in Phoenix, but it was based on the F150 frame and had a 351.
Haha, I definitely want to put the PSD badges on. I actually ordered some on eBay, but USPS lost the package. I made a few trips to the post office (I live where there is a community mailbox place and the post office is about 10 miles away), and they had pictures of the package before they took it from the post office so they definitely had it. I believe they put it in the wrong mailbox and whoever got it doesn't know or care to give it to me. Twice they said they call back and give me more info on what happened but they never did.
So, I have to order some more..... it's not like they are super expensive, but it sucks to lose 50 bucks because the USPS is too lazy to deliver packages to my house out here (UPS and Fedex all deliver to the house, USPS won't though)
