Hey everybody...unfortunately my bronco got into an accident a couple weeks ago and now it is dead. I'm thinking about getting a f-150. I am a college kid and I know I should be getting a pretty nice check but I'm debating whether to get the 92-96 f150 or the 97- f150. My bronco had a 351W which i loved and the c-6 which was ok ( i would have prefered the E40d). Is the newer model f150 worth the extra cash for the smaller engine but damn good looks or the older model which has the bigger engine and less expensive so i can put the rest of my money into other stuff. If I could get some of the pro's and con's please. Thank you all in advance.
It’s really up to you, what styles do you like better? You will be looking at it, and driving it, all the time so make it something you like.
The engine choices for the 97up 150's are the 4.6, and the 5.4
The 4.6's have adequate power and the 5.4's are pretty peppy.
The 5.8 351 in the 92-96’s are pretty torquey, and the 302 could use some more power.
Every body has their preferences on what is bad and what is good between the 92-96 and 97, but there is nothing really bad about ether.
Take each kind of truck for a test drive and pick the one you like.
I would say the 302 and 351 has a little more aftermarket following from what I’ve seen than the 4.6 or 5.4.
Just pick what you like!
