I am sure that someone will post a picture. For reference the lug wrench is secured on the D/S inner fender. You will see a tab with holes to slide it though. You will then need the hand bolt and clip to secure. The jack is on the P/S inner fender. It has a locking mechanism wit a hand tighten bolt that swings down. You should be able to see an area where the base of the jack slips into the fender and the jack lays along the fender.
Does anyone have a picture showing how the jack and lug wrench are stored in the engine compartment of a 1983 F 100?
Here you go, from my '84 F250. The first pic shows the jack, on the passenger side between the heater fan and the battery:
Here is the lug wrench, on the driver's side. The pointed end of the wrench fits in a tab with two holes down low and aft (left in the pic, partially hidden by the corner of the master cylinder in this angle). Never knew the reason for the second hole. :
Would you have a picture of the jack handle of where and how it gets held in?
I cant remember if I have a handle, might find at swap meet but need to know how/where it bolts down at.
Thanks

Is it the type that folds in half or is it 1 long part that fits across the support?
On my '84, the jack handle is one long piece that stores across the top of the radiator.
This pic shows the passenger side and the straight end of the handle that fits into the jack. I'm pointing at one of the clips that secures the jack handle:
Metal clip on the passenger side
Here's the Z-shaped end of the handle, stored on the drivers's side. There's one small metal clip (same as the passenger side) at the top, partially hidden by the battery cable, and a larger plastic hoop-shaped clip down low near the headlight:
Yes. Sort of in front of it on top of the radiator support. There should be a black clip riveted to the radiator support that it clips into.
There are two clips....one to the left of the radiator and one to the right. Designed to hold the barrel jack crank handle. Both are tack welded (not riveted) to the upper core support panel. I've never seen any assembly line part/assembly riveted. . A design carried well into the 90's through multiple Ford truck series offerings. My 97 Ranger's Barrel jack is stored behind the seat vs. the 84's being stored under the hood but both crank handles are stored at the core support in the same configuration.
So it looks like the handle is 1 long part and does not fold in half like some of the ones I have used in the past.

I know of the folding barrel jack crank arms you are talking about Fuzz. I have two or more in the garage. The Ford equipped barrel jack cranks where literally fitted to conform to the core support within the retainers for storage but able to operate the barrel jack appropriately as a rigid fixture.
Both are tack welded (not riveted) to the upper core support panel. I've never seen any assembly line part/assembly riveted.
Ah, back from a relaxing dinner with my wife. Did you know Nicholas lamb kabobs taste just as good on the return trip when you burp them up? Settle into my easy chair by the woodstove and fire up my trusty tablet and what should I behold?
Why, it's the opening salvo in the Great Jack Handle Clip Debate of 2016! The gauntlet has been thrown. I can safely say, without the slightest hesitation, that 100% of all Ford trucks I've ever owned (1 and counting) have had the superior riveted clips, and not the low-brow plebian welded version.
Here is photographic proof:
No difference from the previous picture, I just like posting photos...
What do you use this second battery for? It surprised me that you have the main ground wire going to the frontend sheetmetal. I see then you have a ground going from the other side of the frontend sheetmetal to the other battery negative.
