I just acquired a 2003 with 5.4 L. Did all new plugs and coils, cleaned MAF sensor, changed air filter, oil, transfluid and filter (obviously not related).
Upon start up and idle the truck has is rough, enough that it will vibrate the whole truck SLIGHTLY. Once in gear and warm, it smooths out and is fine. Unit the next stop and start.
was it doing that prior to the plug and coil change ? Vibration can be due to a bad COP and things cleanup when it heats up.... I know they are new, but sht happens....... Your not using any antifreeze ? Level is constant ?
Yes, it was doing it before the plug and coil change, but when it happened before, there was a Service Engine light come on with a misfire on #1 code. Now, there is no light on, but seems to be same symptom without causing the misfire, or misfire ??bad enough?? to trigger light? I don't know.
On the antifreeze. 50/50 and level is good.
What are some signs the intake gasket is bad other than the stutter?
Took truck back in this morning to have diagnostic check. No misfires anywhere. Of course by the time I got there the engine was warmed up and not stuttering.
