Not me... only if it were suspect or really old.

I'd pull the engine and refinish the frame and engine if I were that deep into it.

I don't have the capability to pull the engine or I would have. Where the truck sits right now I would have to build a pretty strong tripod that would probably need to be about 8 feet tall, and that's if I lowered the truck as far as possible.

Joewilker, No it doesn't need replacing. I'll keep it. If it craps the bed it's a pretty easy replacement.

You were asking about the fuel pump now you are talking about pulling the engine. Get off the internet and go work on the truck. It's John not Joe.

No, someone said, "If I was that far I would pull the engine". I was just responding why I couldn't.

Working on the truck everyday

Hope those concrete blocks are at least solid and not hollow core. I prefer wood blocks because concrete sometimes crumbles with a little vibration.

Okay, apologies for being "Debbie downer" with a safety tip when you're just trying to have some fun.

Figured you must have thought you had one of those new superduties where you have to pull the cab just to see the engine.

Thanks for the thought. I have backup as well so if they fail while I'm working I won't get crushed.

I can't get the pitman arm loose. I really want to remove the steering box so I can get in to really clean the engine. I've got three issues right now. A broken bolt from the water pump, the stubborn pitman, and finding a new exhaust manifold or a 428 from a car.

It has custom dual exhaust and I'm not in the position to modify it right now.

Get a pitman arm puller from Harbor Freight. Or borrow one from O"rieliys or Autozone.

If you want originality, then change the pump because it appears to be wrong, doesn't have the filter canister.
