I think it's time for a HPOP. I was getting a long crank and no base oil pressure at idle when warm. I pulled the HPOP and the bearing was missing so I tapped it and put in a plug. It starts good now but I have a gear whine and reduced power so I suspect I'm not making pressure like I should be.
My question is what shall I use for a replacement? I found this on ebay. I also found what they call the terminator and assorted different rebuilds and OEM. I've heard unflattering things about pensacola but do they actually manufacture the pump shown? Would I be better off with an OEM rebuild or are there other equally viable options? Looking for opinions... http://www.ebay.com/itm/201339903192?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
The Adrenaline is guaranteed to run out of the box. OEM is not and they are a re-man pump. I wouldn't buy any other brand but the Adrenaline.
You did read the description about the Florida pump... Completely rebuilt & tested to meet or exceed OE specifications
Unless you like fighting with a company that may not honor the warranty (Ford at least gives 24 months) and still having to replace it multiple times... you would get pretty good at replacing an HPOP, maybe under 3 hours?
Not trying to play devils advocate here, but the one from ebay is the first time I have seen a billet style, claiming to address the issues, other than the Adrenaline, and at an attractive price.
I realize it's a rebuilt but the housing would be new by default for starters.
Has anyone else seen this pump or know anyone who has run it?
EDIT.......after a quick Google on that place, less than glowing reviews. In fact some guys even calling for the owners to burn in a lake of fire, not exactly comforting words for a pump that takes this long to replace.
If you own a 2003-2004 6.0 and the pump dies, the only option (as far as I'm concerned) is the Adrenaline. I've read about and seen too many "dead out of the box" or pumps that didn't live too long after they were installed, to not recommend it.
You'll spend a pretty penny for it, but it carries the same 2 year/unlimited mileage warranty, but it works out of the box and exceeds OEM spec and performance.
