So the 92s really arent all that comparatively bad? (light duty being freeway driving, little towing, and maintenance freak levels of maintenance.)
sorry for the thread hijack.
Of maintained regularly and lightly driven, they should be fine. They stopped using the AOD and went to the e4od in the F150 and Bronco, so they figured with light duty usage it would do just fine
I've got one set of 5.13 gears sitting on the work bench waiting to be but on the dura grip diff I bought. I recon that it wont take long of me driving the truck into town to pick up some beer, and the OD tranny will become really important.
I mostly drive the truck around doing 45-50mph anyway but even then the C6-5.13's are going to be strong motivation for me to get the E4od into the truck. hahaha

With 5.13's? I hope you have a gear vendor to go along with that. Otherwise you'll run out of gas before you hit town!
Hahaha. My life style is ULTRA rural. My land has a 1000' change in elevation on 18+ acres so I need the truck to be able to get around. It's going to stay a farm truck so I'll take the Mustang Cobra into town if I have to.
When I checked the rpm calculators, they said that 50 mph with 5.13's and .71 overdrive was somewhere around 2500 rpm's....if I remember correctly.... so we'll see.
I also am eyeballing a 514 ci stroker kit for the 460. Im trying to get that power stroke feel from a gas engine. I figure 10 "truck payments" at $750 a month and I'll have a truck custom made for me, plus I already own it, and it's not going to devalue any less than what I paid for it.
If I won the power ball, I'd get a 08-10 f350 with the 6.4 power stroke. Then I'd spend another 20-30grand souping it all up AND I wouldn't have to worry about being $60G into the truck and it devaluing to being worth $5G in twenty years.
But I aint going to win the power ball.
iv got 5.13's in my f450 with the e4od.around 45-50 mph i wish it had another gear.when i load the 16' bed and it still goes as easy as it did when empty, that's when i have no complaints.

That's why I want 4.56 or 5.13 in my axles with a gear vendor. Towing a bigger trailer will be no hurdle (already bought an F-Super Duty larger master cylinder, reman Hydroboost unit and a Saginaw steering pump). With the higher lower end gearing, and a gear vendor for 8 gears, keeping things in the powerband and a favorable overdrive gear, I'll be all good.
