Additives

First off, I'm not, a fan of additives in and engine. Other than Lucas in the crankcase, and I have it in Ka'Bluey.
I have a coolant leak, and I really think it's at the intake manifold. I really want to rebuild that engine, or build another and have it ready to swap. But both of those are in the next year or two. After we buy a house and I have my own space to do so.
But for right now, I'm really thinking about trying one of these repairs in a bottle, and the one that I find with the best reviews are "Blue Devil". They are proud of it, at $65 for a 32oz bottle. But it's a liquid, and not chunks of copper or aluminum, that I'm sure are going to cause problems someplace else, like water jackets, heater core, radiator etc.
But if it stops my coolant leak, and buys me this year or so that I'm wanting it would be a win. When I owned the truck years ago, it never seen 2,000 a year, yeah it's just a toy, and set's......a lot.
So what have y'all tried, or heard

I've never used that stuff, I've used some alumseal in a pinch.

How bad is the leak? Cracked pepper has plugged a bunch of leaks in radiators and lasted along time. I don't see why it wouldn't stop a small leak else where too.

Larry, I'm not for sure IF, I even have a leak for sure. I'm even wondering if I have a bad thermostat. Today after driving Ka'Bluey around town quite a bit, the temp gauge would go 3/4 the way to hot. And at the same time the oil pressure would drop (as would be expected). After noticing the oil pressure dropping, Tim and I even noticed a little ticking from maybe a lifter, and I could hear the difference in the exhaust, since Ka'Bluey has stacks that are just a bit higher than the cab.
Coolant wise, I need to top it off and then I can be sure that it is full. There aren't any spots/puddles anyplace in the driveway or anyplace after having him out for a drive.
I'm wanting to degrease and pressure wash the engine, then that also makes it easier to watch for leaks.

The 351m and 400 engines are known for low oil pressure at hot idle anyways. Those old factory gages aren't to good anyways, may just top it off and see if it's losses any. May even consider a couple mechanical gauges so your not guessing with the old "dummy gauges"

I know about the low oil pressure and these engines, and your right about the factory gauges. I've really thought about adding aftermarket gauges, but I'd rather install them so they look factory. I may have to do some internet playing and get some ideas.
But, even by the factory gauges, this truck has been running lower temp, and better oil pressure. Could also e that I am losing oil pressure, and that is taking my engine temps up.
