Hey Guys,
first post, yell for help. I have a 2005 F350 with a bad ring and pinion. I have a USA Standard gears set(#ZGD80-373), but they do not fit. The original gear set is thinner in construction, these are binding. I can't find any contact infor for USA Standard, which sucks. You would think a tech support number would be nice to have. Any of you run into this?
First, did u get the matching ratio? Did you change BOTH ring gear & pinion? You can't change just the ring gear. The ring and pinion is a matching set.
It looks like you got a 3.73 set replacement. Does the tag on the axle rear cover say 3.73?
Ok. You are changing both gears? You're not trying to change just the ring gear, right?
Can you be more specific as to what is not fitting?
Are you saying the ring won't fit on the carrier? Or the assembled carrier w/gear won't fit in the housing? Pictures would help.
Replacing both ring and pinion. the ring gear seems to be thicker than the original one. I have the 10 bolt rear cover, should be the Dana 80. I found these gear that state "thin" I am guessing the ring gear is thinner than the replacement I have now?
