So i didn't want to hijack the other roof rack threads so here is my next project. I need a rack for 1 canoe, 1 kayak, honda eu2000, empty 10 gal trailer waste tank, and plenty of lights all around!!!!
I put together a 3-d model of what i am thinking.. I like the baskets everyone has but I like the way Twitchyleprechaun's is nice and flat.
Hsteacher. What size did you make the black bar stock that slides into the mount on the roof? Can you tell me what fastener is on that stock. I'm sure some trial and error went into that. Might save me a bit of time.
I have to measure it when we get back home but I am almost certain it was 1"x1/4" and used cold rolled. I drilled and tapped threads for 3/8" x 5/8" long bolts. With a lock and flat washer they don't bottom out. Fyi , a Kindorf pipe clamp loosened and slid off about 4 hrs into the drive.. Even though this is temporary I would change to using two Kindorf nuts and a u shape pipe clamp instead
