5 hours drive with the 69 f100..

I plan on going on a 5 hour trip with the f100. My only real concerns are overheating, and I have no kickdown. There will be steep Hills and I'll probably have to put my foot down, does this mean I manually shift it down a gear and hold it till I'm up the hill?? I'm worried about over reving and blowing up hahaha

Best solution to over revving is to drive slower. Just make sure you have lots of extra water and other necessary fluids, and some basic, important tools.

Hard to make a recommendation with your bare min. info. Overheating shouldn't be a problem as long as you aren't leaking coolant. Unless you are towing the kickdown shouldn't be a problem either.

I might take some 50/50 mis coolant, a good spare tire, jack & tools and have a good trip.

If you've cleaned up the issues in your earlier posts, sure. If not, not. You were worried about ignition timing. Make sure it's at the stock setting or somewhat advanced and the vacuum advance is working. That will keep engine temperatures lower. Kind of want to take baby steps with a new old rig. Take it around the block a few times, eventually around town on errands and such. Then farther trips away all day.

Sort of like the moon shots, they orbited the Earth before setting out across the abyss.
