2014 supercrew
2014 supercrew
I'm looking at a 2014 supercrew with the Ecoboost. Seems to be fairly well equipped for an xlt. It has 89k miles on it. I've been in the superduty world for the last 15 years, what do you recommend I look for on this truck?
Shows a clean car fax, no accidents, one owner.
Thanks in advance!!

Turbos have been the replacement for displacement for over 100 years, don't them scare you off.
I would request all the repair and maintenance records though, even if it were a 5.0L. Both engines have had issues, some minor and some major.

I agree, get the 5.0. Turbos or not, the fact is that smaller engines have to work harder to make the same power larger engines do. It's the laws of physics. The EcoBoost by it's very design, being small and sophisticated, has less chance of lasting a long time with no repairs.
Not to mention, 5.0 trucks are cheaper to buy and generally get better MPGs in the real world. Good luck.

Weird that it posted twice.....
Thanks for the I for so far.
Records were pulled and it has been set iced regularly at ford garage, no issues as far as engine. Had tires replaced at 52k. Didn't show much else. Lol

As someone who owns a 5.0 and is experiencing the 5.0 "tick" I would suggest getting the EB. I may even be looking at the baby-boost (the 2.7L) for my next truck.
That is higher mileage that I would expect from the truck, but if it was used for traveling that would explain it. You would be well beyond the factory bumper to bumper and power-train warranty. Not sure if an extended is available or not. Just something to think about.

On any vehicle I would want to be the first person to start it up in the morning & listen.
I would not hesitate to buy another EB truck and will be looking at the 2.7L when the 10 speed transmissions come out. My current EB is fantastic. I would rather tow my boat with the EB F150 than my Super Duty.

I traded my 2006 F-150 5.4 on a new 2014 Ecoboost Supercrew 4x4 and absolutely love it. The difference is night and day.
What do you plan on using the truck for, towing, pleasure, commuting etc? If you plan to tow does it have the tow pkg or maxtow pkg? What rear end ratio does it have? I wanted the Maxtow but there were none available so I bought one with the normal tow pkg and the 3.55 electronic locking rear. Never regretted it, I tow a 25' bumper pull toy hauler loaded to around 10,000 lbs and it never breaks a sweat, even when climbing mountains at 7500 feet fully loaded. Pulled down to Picacho Peak over Easter and averaged 12.2 MPG loaded at interstate speeds. Drove it to Lake Havasu in late February without towing and got 22 MPG actual at 65-70 MPH on open two lane roads with light traffic and not babying it at all.
The 2006 5.4 would have gotten me 8 to 9 MPG tops towing and 15.5-16 MPG on the open highway. I'm still impressed with the ecoboost and the 6 speed transmission after a little over a year of ownership and 2,500 miles towing, mostly in northern and eastern AZ in the mountains and the gas mileage is good when not towing when you consider it is a full size crew cab 4x4 optioned pretty heavily. I would buy it all over again given the choice.

Glad to hear a little love for it. Everyone I know that has the EB lives it. Have not heard of issues, not that it wouldn't happen. Every vehicle is a roll of the dice.
I am going to try and get down there and check it out tomorrow. We are real close on numbers.
