Seeking wisdom

As you can see the shifter on my 71 f250 broke off, anyone know the name of the piece thats broke and how hard will it be to fix?

That part was readily available a few years back. Lots of them in that condition. i've seen long lasting repairs made with a simple metal strap around the collar. Not one of Ford's better engineering jobs.

I think it's called the shift collar. You might ask over on the 67-72 forum.....Number Dummy(Bill) can likely find you a new one if it exists.

Here you go, same thing happened to me on my 62 Fairlane, you might try grabbing it down near the column for those speed shifts, less leverage but quicker shifts.
