My name is Bill, and I'm new to the forum.
I picked up a '55 F100 this past weekend.
(It has the 223 I6.)
The oil bath filter was off and sitting on the bed.
Looking at the top of the carb, and the bottom of the oil bath filter housing, it's clear I'm missing something.
Can anyone show me what part is used to mate the housing to the carb?
Or even better, does anyone have any idea where I could get this part?
That "Mid Fifty" company doesn't seem to have much in the way of engine parts....
Thanks a lot!

Reason: adding images
Welcome to the forum, Bill! As you've correctly surmised, you're missing the bottom half of the air cleaner assembly, the part that holds the oil. Here's some pictures of what you're missing that may help from an article I wrote on modifying one, several years ago. The air cleaners are listed on ebay all the time, and you may find one for your application at a local swap meet, as well. Keep your eyes open and they'll turn up.
I saw one on eBay yesterday. This one is for a Yblock. Yours is a six. I don't know if they are the same or not, but you'll know where to start looking.
Thank you Wayne, and thank you Keith.
I was intending to do the swap to a paper filter, so thanks for sharing your article. That's the clearest write-up I've seen yet on the process.
Almost too bad to pay ~$70 on eBay for the used part and then just hack it up.
The 6 is different from the V8, and the truck cleaner is different from the car unit. The air horn on the carb has a different shape, so only the 6 cylinder truck air cleaner will work with your carb.
No kidding, I would have thought with that compression fit / screw setup I could have gotten away with anything that had a similar measurement on the ID. (especially since I am going to convert it to paper anyway)
Thanks again Wayne, you likely saved me a purchase / sell-back on eBay.
Actually the cars and trucks used the same carburetor on the six cylinders. Unlike the V8s the air horn is cast into the carburetor body. So with the six cylinders the car air cleaner will install on a truck, and vise versa. As mentioned above, the six and V8 use a different diameter where the air cleaner clamps onto the carburetor. You will need a six cylinder air cleaner.
I personally like the oil bath. I see no reason to convert to paper. Just my 2¢s.
Thanks Fred.
I think I found one, but I would have expected to see a screw for tightening the bottom of the filter housing to the top of the carb.
Maybe this too is incomplete?
Thanks Fred.

Thanks Bob. I don't have that arch with the threaded hole on the top of the carb, and I don't see any place where it might have broken off. My carb is definitely different than the example picture you used, so I'm hoping I don't need a new carb, and the oil bath filter I'm looking for clamps on.
The "example" you sent from eBay (off a V8) looks right to me based on my research.
Thanks for the part numbers Bill.
I've scoured the whole internet, and I don't think there's a verified part out there currently - but I'll keep searching eBay and CL until something shows up.
This item looks the part, and it does list an ID of 2 1/4" which is dead-on the exact measurement I took from my carb.
I asked the seller what he pulled it from, let's see if he knows...
