thanks for all the help in identifing what year block i have. well ita a 94 351. i would like to get around 400-425 horses out of it and still be able to drive it on the weekends without running 6000 rpm at 60 mph and still be able to run pump gas in it. so im ask the gods of the engines (thats all of you for your opions on this. the only thing i dont want to do is stroke it i would like to go .030 over just to clean up the cyclinders so if anyone can give me ideas on cam carb intake heads the works i would greatly appreciated also im working on a budget of about $5000 for the engine and trans. right now i have the c6 in it but can get an a40d for nothing just need to go through it and make sure its good. thanks in advanced
I purchased a ford performance book and in the back they recommend engine builds they did one that included these mods: flat top pistons (10.5:1 compresion ratio is the target), stock crank/rods, comp cam extreme energy 262 flat tappet, roller rockers (doesn't state but I assume stock ratio 1.6:1), stock gt-40p heads out of box with 1.94/1.62 valves installed, performer rpm intake and speed demon 750, msd ignition, 15/8" long tube headers. With forged pistons it cost 3400 including labor, your final cost may vary on what pistons you use and weather or not you could find used parts worth using, don't forget the electric fuel pump you will need since your block has no place for a mechanical pump, there's another $50. The hp translated into 206.6 at 3000 rpm up to 398.9 at 6000 on the tq side 352.5 at 3000 rpm peaking at 4500 rpm with 393.6. With a higher stall /rear gears it may not be too bad a street motor in a truck good luck hope this helps
