I'm in fixed wing training on and off as the wallet allows.
Started flying a Piper Aero at 9yo with my grandfather
Some stick time in a Cub and 152 (under instruction)
Pilot in Command in UH-60 for the National Guard
FAA Commercial Instrument Rotary Wing cert, hopefully by next year I will have my fixed wing private add on in the Cub, 152 and 172, possibly Piper Archer too...

Fun stuff. Most likely just getting his minimums, most military pilots need around 100 hours a year
It is.
Runs up to Ft Dix pretty often, which works for us if he fuels up at Millville or A.C.
He's in 20+..talk of a switch soon. Hopefully back to VSP, my daughter wants to work w/ her uncle.
Fixed wing, private, multi, and instrument ticket. Befriended a rotary wing pilot here and am thinking about taking that on. Probably the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced n the air was an autorotation.
I miss doing touchdown autos in the Kiowa. What a great airframe. Power management was key. LTE could happen with a quartering tailwind easily.
Hawks are too expensive to ball up if you mess up. Something about 16,000# at 3000+ fpm decent. Hope I never have to auto one for real life.
Good news I just finished my first flight as PC. Some unaided time. Only one private guy out at the local class E airport. I still don't understand why some private pilots don't use the radio in E or G airspace.
I missed out on ski training on the cub this winter. It forgot to snow and the 78F250 needed money thrown its way.
I'm a pilot. Haven't flown in about two years, but hoping to pick up a "cheap" 175 this summer. I have a spare set of 172 floats...just missing the plane to put them on.
Mtn dewd. Best advice I can give you is you'll get your best bang for your buck if you 'chair fly' each flight the night before you fly.
Go over your flight brief start up taxi call taxi run up checks line up take off crosswind downwind base final.
A lot of people rely on the instructor to make a solid foundation for these tasks but when you figure out the constants how to talk on the radio etc it will make your learning curve a lot quicker and take the least amount of training for your ticket.
Sure your dad will say/ has said this. Stalls are easy. Even more easy when you don't stall by accident haha. Trust your instruments.
I've hit IIMC once. It was sorta on purpose but I didn't have a chance. Flying snowstorm came 30 min before it should have. Trying to scud run through a valley and I didn't have the ceiling. Did a 180 called approach got a sqwak and poof in the clouds light icing and landed safe. My instructor pilot locked up, I had the leans but I went back to my training and broke out at 700'agl on an ILS. Always trust your instruments unless you have a frozen static port bad gyro or stuck card........ Keep at it I love every moment I'm flying.
Also study study study! When the instructor can ask what all the V speeds are and what airspace is what radio transponder requirements cloud coverages etc and you rattle em off the second week he will know you mean business.
Awesome!! Somebody was having fun in a UH60A/L simulator.
I was in PA this weekend and did 6 hours.
Looks like your nephew was having a good time crusin around about 140kias and 1600ish feet AGL. Heck ya!!

175 would be fun. I have a soft spot for the TD Cessna 180. One beast of a plane.
