Running into problems building 6.0

Okay, I have a 2005 6.0 f350 with 260xxx oil field miles on it. Recently, I blew the engine. So I went for a hunt online and found a long block for a more than fair price. So my plan from there was to replace all of the parts on my truck + some upgrades along the way onto the long block I got online. My pops and I started to dig in but we ran into what I think is a huge problem. So we got to the hp oil rail on the one I got online and it was the metal tube hp oil rail and when we went to replace it with the one from recent engine we noticed the difference. And now I believe the long block I had gotten from online is an older year model of the 6.0. Am I correct according to the oil rails being different and if so what can I do from here other than just going to buy a whole long block? Thanks for reading!

No we can see it. I'm just trying to think about how it can be made to work.

Late 04 HPOP and pump cover with the correct branch tube to run the wave rails, then use the rocker boxes from your first engine on the heads from the one you bought?

Late 2004 Excursions ran with the updated original pump with wave rails?

IIRC Anthony (SN: run6.0run) has done an HPO system conversion and would know for sure.

Like i said I'm brand new to this site so idk how to get ahold of him exactly. But when i put the rocker boxes on the heads from the engine i bought everything went perfect but when i put the wave rails the branch goes through one hole and leaves a hole similar on the other side, is that where a dumby plug goes? Btw, really appreciate this man.

The wave rails should have each had a plug like this in them when you took them out:
High Pressure Oil Rail Updated Dummy Plug - Riffraff Diesel Performance

You need to change the branch tube from the HPOP to the heads to the one from your blown engine, the engine you picked up is an 03 early 04 with the log type oil rails and they are not compatible with your 05 directly. I would convert to the 05 style otherwise you will have a weaker HPOP design and the ICP will be under the turbo in a much less accessible location. It will be some work but if you have both engines out of the truck it isn't too bad. You will have to remove the rear cover from both engines and transfer all the HPOP system components to the older engine, make sure you use a new updated stc fitting as well.

So you need to take the 05 system and transfer it to the just purchased engine.
First pic is the 2005 system.

This pic below is the older system that came on the purchased engine. These parts get swapped out from your blown up engine.

The rear cover has to be removed to swap the branch tubes, #8 & #5.

You can use the parts off your old engine,, but the heads have to be loosened off the new engine. Because the rocker boxes are not the same. So put the old rocker boxes on the new heads. Good time to stud it. You might need to pull the locating dowels out of the rocker boxes to install on the early model heads. Your replacement engine is an 03. So the rear cover comes off and swap the branch tube.

And yes,, I've done a bunch of these conversions.

Sorry, probably a dumb question. But on to the next worry, on my 2005 it has what the fly wheel bolts too and on the engine i bought it doesnt. And idk how to take that off. Is it a puller that needs to take it off?
