As luck would have it, one of your fellow countrymen is just finishing this conversion. He's in the process of getting his final inspections now.
His is a 1954, but the only real difference should be the dash. I think he did go with an aftermarket steering box and column.

Edit: Looking back on his thread, he went with an IFS, so it might not be the same at all. Sorry for the confusion.
