Wanting brighter headlights.

Wanting brighter headlights.
Hey everyone. I'm wondering what some suggestions are out there for getting brighter headlights for my Ranger. I live in Jacksonville, Florida, and I have to have my fog lights on more often than not when I'm traveling across town on the interstate in order to be able to actually see where I'm going. I would also like to get brighter lights before the rainy season comes to north Florida.

I installed a set of driving lights on my bumper. They came with 55 watt bulbs that I replaced with 100's. I also wired them to my hi-beam head lights with a relay switch so they automatically go out when I dim my lights. The left light is adjusted just a bit higher than the factory hi-beams and pointing straight down the yellow line. The right side is a bit lower and aimed at the ditch to light up the swamp donkeys (Moose). You might want to check your local or state laws first.

Whatever modification you are going to make, it might be worth making sure it is legal. This might sound like an odd advice, but I have been looking at adding some lights to my Ranger as well. As I was doing some research on what people were doing, I came to find out that some types of light modifications are illegal in some states based on the state's DOT laws/regulations just like Dan sates above. A lot of people are getting away because it is not widely enforced. My decision at the end was to stay on the safe side and just replace the standard bulbs with Silverstars just like suggested by MikeB. I was looking at those HID conversion kits.
I was also checking out some of those LED bulbs at a local auto part store and was surprised to read the warning on the packages that they are for off-road use only.
