E brake problems

Pushed e brake. Something popped. Inspected all the Cables none broke. Suspecting it's the brake pedal assembly.

Any ideas on what to look for ?

Take a peak under the rear rotors, see if anything is jiggly or weird back there (the e-brake pads live under the rear brake rotor). My ebrake was completely locked (from rust) in the unengaged position (could not even get the pedal to move). An afternoon, a deadblow hammer, and 2 cans of PB blaster later, i now have parking brakes that are almost better then my normal brakes.

I think it's the e brake pedal. Doing research. As I pressed something popped sounded like in the cab. I've read there's s pulley somewhere on the lever that the rivets break on

I believe I found the problem. Spring snapped. Don't know if I can buy just spring or whole assembly

I would look for the whole assembly in a local boneyard.

It is not repairable. The junkyard is the way to go. That spring is what locks up the ratchet mechanism that holds the cable tight which keeps the e-brake locked.

Yeah. I just ordered a new one. Picking it up tonight. I'd rather just go with a new one. Local junk yard are in Portland or. So is north side ford. So I'll just go there. Skip the hassle of broken glass. Spider webs. Dust. All that. Guess I'll be missing out on the adventure of it too.

I will say I have been very happy with north side ford in Portland. They are usually about 15% cheaper then my local dealer and they have a bigger inventory. I have used them about 5x for OEM parts and the salesman said they would knock 30$ off the price. Pretty sweet.
