is it possible that the job boxes on my '64 were a factory option? judging by the patina and color they were installed early in the trucks life.
thanks in advance
Pretty common years ago on Flareside/Stepside working trucks. In the East, utility body mfg. like Reading, Stahl, Morriesville made them. Offered from the factory????? Bill N D or someone will tell us.
I like the Headache Rack. Wondering if at the base of the uprights, are there any connectors where Gin Poles might hook in. Would love to see a pic from the rear, of the components atop the rack. Thanks for posting the pic.
hmmmm i dont know about the Gin pole. It looks like there was a welder or generator mounted at the front of the bed at one point. there is also some kind of lever acctuated gizmo on the column and a switch for a brake lock. I'll get some better pics when i visit her tomorrow. I appreciate any feedback as i am a real novice with this truck
Thanks again
Cody
you can see the top of the housing on the other side of the column, it has a long levr that is spring loaded. I think it saws WARNER on the round housing

Cool looking boxes on the bed, definitely looks to be of the same vintage as the truck, probably an aftermarket company back in the day put it on, much like Reading does now. But who know..
Mico brake, truck running, step FIRMLY on brakes, apply button or toggle switch, release brake pedal, release button or switch. Brakes are locked, prob fronts and rears. DO NOT USE THIS when truck is not attended, it's not parking brake, it's for when the truck is being used for it's work purpose. To release the brakes, simply step firmly on brake pedal and release.
Truck is probably an F-350 judging by the parking brake handle on floor next to the trans shifter. It is attached to the rear of the trans.
Guessing this truck was used for test boring as you say looks like an engine was mounted in the bed. Or possibly a Co that did well service.
Controller on column is for Brakes on a trailer. If lever moves when you step on brake pedal it may operate a rheostat for electric brakes on trailer. The brakes could be hyd if a connector near trailer hitch has a brake line going to it.

The '64 F250 I picked up last year had a trailer brake controller that was operated by the hand lever and it was connected to the brake lines so that when you stepped on the brakes it operated a small piston that moved the lever as if you were doing it by hand. It has been disconnected for a while.
So I've been wrestling with the idea to lose the job boxes and try to find a styleside box for this rig. If i can find a decent box i would probably have to swap out the dually axle as well(DANA 70 with 5:13's is a little low for cruising)
Does anyone have ideas on what would be a good rear axle swap doner?
thanks in advance
Cody
You have a # of options.
1- That is probably a nine ft bed, Yes? No? You gonna find a 9 ft Styleside?
2- F-350 were available SRW and you could go that way, remove boxes, put on a set of Flareside fenders.
3-5.13's your still screaming at 65 I suppose. Newer rear axle with better highway gears? Then your getting into different wheel bolt patterns. So new ring and pinon in your Dana 70 with ratio more suited for highway? Install a 5 speed with OD trans, leave 5.13's where they live?
Everything is doable, just a few thoughts, possibility's
hey ya, its a 292cid with the 4 speed trans. Id like to keep it as close to how it is now so Im guessing that a different gear set might help. I've seen the flare side fenders online at LMC truck i think it was. Do you know if there was different gear options for that axle? I also dont know if the wheels are split rim or not. the tires are 16x7.5
