Newbie here, so apologies if this question seems out of line. Just purchased a 72 F-250 Custom out of Washington State. Tires are 265/75-16 Daytona Radial Stags w/ obvious signs of dry-rot. What seems to be the go-to tire choice for those of you with an F-250? I was told by a guy at NTB that the tire needs to be rated for the maximum GVW, which is 8000. I know I will never hit that with my intended use.Unloaded GVW is 3000.
So, two part question. There are LTs on the truck now and obviously the truck coped with an LT tire for some time without terrible harm. I'm not planning to use it in a heavy duty capacity, just begin to fix it up and make it a weekend cruiser. Do I need a tire rated for HD use If I do not intend to use the truck in that capacity, or is it safe to search based on the rim size and go from there?
Finally, what are you all running on your trucks in terms of tires?
Yep, just one of many items to address. First step is safe tires. Any recommendations? Do you happen to know the make/model of these directional rims per chance?

Thanks guys, help much appreciated,

I am running E load range & 10 ply rating Truck tires on the front now of my 71 f250 because the PO tires were D range & 8 ply rating and did not last very long.
