Hi,
New to the forum, very frustrated over something quite simple, well, it should be. I cannot find the diagram for the Auxiliary Relay 1 Box (under dash, to the right of column). I have a 'parasitic drain' of 210 mil. amps and I have traced to fuse 26, to lower right relay in this panel. Have no clue how to identify what this relay goes to, because I have no way of identifying it on any schematic I come across. The 2000 is different than the 2001, as it has 8 smaller relay slots instead of 4 small and 2 large. Any help would be appreciated, sorry for the wordy explanation......
Did you follow the manual's procedure to WAIT 40 MINUTES after disturbing anything before making your current drain measurement? If you didn't, you're trying to troubleshoot a normal behavior.
Thanks, I am going to divide and conquer the most likely draws according to that schematic. Wish though that I had a diagram of Aux. Relay Box, as I would like to know what relay it is I am pulling that kills the draw, and what it is feeding. Unreal, that nowhere on the internet can I find this. Haynes manual does not show squat, and the box itself has no identification on it.....frustrating....Thanks again.
The factory service manual makes no mention of an "Auxiliary Relay Box 1", it simply refers to a "Relay Box" which houses the battery saver relay, among at least one other that I noticed (didn't go looking for more).
You need to determine if the battery saver relay (BSR) controller, either the GEM or the CTM, depending on the truck's option configuration, is actually timing out and releasing the BSR. Just pulling the fuse F26 or the relay is going to be inconclusive, at best.
As noted, the 2000 is different than the 2001. Trying to use the 2001 schematics is only going to confuse things.
Good point about the GEM timer circuit not timing out & opening the battery saver relay.
To check the battery saver relay, you could back probe its solenoid winding contacts to see if the GEM timer circuit has turned it off, or maybe try thumping the relay to see if its contacts have stuck, or plug in another known good like relay & see how things go. Relays are a known problem part & the GEM has been known to have problems, but not nearly as often as relays.
If you have, or can come by a ELM scan tool like discussed here, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-scantool.html & running FORScan or the like software on the viewing device of your choice, it can provide a more in depth look at the GEM body controller & maybe find trouble code clues that could offer up good trouble shooting insight.
I swapped relays earlier in troubleshooting, so I thought anyway, with no change. But earlier today I swapped battery saver relay with another relay of same type, and waited 1 hour. Was only drawing 30 milliamps, saw no other issues due to relay swap. Will let it roll and see what happens. Blew my 15amp fuse on meter somehow, will have to wait to check again when I get new fuse. Voltage drop on battery of .26 volts over 5 hour period, included draw due to timing out of GEM circuit. Thanks for all your help!!!!!
