Yesterday I get to Miami Int. Airport, take my truck home (75 miles away) back my truck in to my yard. When I backed up I noticed a message on the display telling me to contact the dealer.
I walked to the back of the truck only to find some MFIN, Low life piece of ***** had stolen my tailgate. Some security at the airport!?
Any suggestions on where/how to get a new one, with camera, stripper pole and step.
That stinks man. You might look at Craigslist and see if you see anything that might be yours. My truck was broken into a couple weeks ago. There are some real class acts out there.
I would be so mad... Was it locked? I think about this when I park in a public lot. On my 2011, I added a pop-in lock to insure the tailgate was always locked. Have not done this to my 2015 so I lock when I remember but I don't always remember.
Ebay has plenty of them $800-$1600. I would chat with my insurance people too though. Claim the $3000 and spend $1000 on the replacement.
I had the tailgate stolen off my 2000 7.3, found a upfitter take off without a scratch on it, for less than my deductible.
Now days that's going to be tough to find all the options. I would think a camera could be added to a tailgate that came without, if you can do without the step. If you want to keep the step I'm thinking insurance is the way to go, but a lot of company's are going to look for a used....err, recycled...one anyway. Check with local vehicle recyclers and see what you need is going for compared to your deductible and decide.
Sucks....
When you get the new one, make sure you get a popnlock electronic tailgate lock actuator. Then you can't forget to lock it. Also, the hose clamp around the hinge trick slows down theft too. I did both.

Having lived and worked in Miami for a long time, that theft is prolific in Miami-Dade County. And they like the Airport parking lots because a lot of people are gone for long period of time, which makes it hard to go back to the cameras to see the theft happen. Car thefts happen there too because they can use your ride for awhile before anyone knows it's missing to report it stolen.
Where were you parked at MIA?
Please report this to Miami-Dade Police Department as well, even if your insurance company doesn't require it.
For a quick security upgrade, a hose clamp is better than nothing... And it is one of the reasons I liked the hard covers that lock into the tailgate, it makes them have to defeat several locks to get to it.
