Dak, I was parked in the high vehicle parking lot...The tailgate was locked...They didn't even cut the camera wires...I reported it to Metro Dade Police.
When you get the new one, make sure you get a popnlock electronic tailgate lock actuator. Then you can't forget to lock it. Also, the hose clamp around the hinge trick slows down theft too. I did both.
Sorry about your troubles. I'd be ripped...
What is the popnlock? Is it more robust than the Master or others out there? I've heard the Masters etc are fairly easy to defeat with a punch and hammer?
Pop & Lock is totally different. It's a power actuator that locks your OEM key tailgate lock and is triggered off your trucks power locks. So, hit the button to lock your truck and your tailgate locks too.
I have the Pop-n-Lock installed on mine and a large hose clamp around the hinge. If they want mine it's gonna be a challenge at least lol!
When I was installing the Pop-n-Lock, I did notice that it could be defeated if you don't have a locking bed cover. It'll take some work and tools, but you can remove the inner tailgate cover and get to the linkage to unlock the factory lock.
That'll take some time though, and probably make some noise.

I wonder how they got around the lock. Remove the inner cover plate?
I'm worried about my tailgate. It has no camera but I'm not counting on a thief to know that and take a pass on mine.
I have thought about swapping the "hinges" if they are ambidextrous. But I expect those torx bolts to be in there at 200 ft/lb with loctite to boot. And it will be dicey on the reinstall getting somebody to hold the tailgate while I put the fasteners in all without scratching it.
Then for the cables try to take their torx bolts off and slide it through the eye of the cable with the flat washer on the outside.
OK so Progressive is sending someone to "inspect the damage"...I said, "What damage? It's gone!...She wasn't one of the sharpest knives in the drawer...Anyway at least things are progressing (no pun intended).
Well on the bright side, I don't have to worry about raising or lowering the tailgate during hooking and unhooking the 5er this weekend...
