coil-overs

Since most of the light duty fords are already three linked in the front has anybody thought about or done a front suspension with coil-overs instead of coil springs. I saw the new skyjacker lift for the dodges with the coilovers and that got me thinking why can't i do that to my truck. know of any good tech articles concerning coilovers and how to rate them? TIA
Nick
