Hey Guys I need a little help on this one. I am getting a shudder through the drivetrain when starting from a dead stop. It does not happen if you start off really easy, but if you give it any more than 1/4 throttle it shudders pretty bad. It is a 2000 SD w/36000, stock height eith 285's. Has never seen any extreme towing short of a couple harleys and snowmobiles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to FTE, happyandy1. Are you the original owner? With no more than 36K on it, it puts to my mind two things: Carrier Bearing or Clutch Adjustment (if it's a manual tranny). If the slip joint is good, take a look at these two.
I have the same problem on a F250 1991. The local shop told me he has ot realign my drive shafts and may be rebalance. My suspension is to low in the rear.
It really vibrates with a load at around 1800 RPM, starting from a stop. After that it is all OK
