Roger that. Makes sense. But in doing my compression test old school. (dry then wet) I now have oil in the cylinders so the results of this test may be misleading.

Hope you get it going, mines still sitting rotting away.
Don't know what I'm going to do with it yet.

Sorry for the delay, everyday life. So I pulled the heads and found that there are Mahle pistons in it already. The front two / all the cylinders are in good shape. So I pulled the block and pan. slid the front two pistons out and lo and behold compression rings aligned and not clocked. Damit any way. so from here it is gaskets and fuel system. I will remove the rings on those two and check the end gaps. But my bet is they are ok. nothing visual of note. good crosshatch no visible taper but I will measure. no gouges or scoring in the bores. Just a dumb *** assembler. As a side note
the EGR will be coming off. What a ignorant idea, put all that abrasive stuff (carbon) back into the engine. You should see my intake. Astounding what so called engineers can think up.

They don't think... They just do what the epa tells them to do.

Ordered parts last night. Got fuel system parts and a mini maxx on the way.
went OEM on the fuel stuff and head gaskets, Ford has a part number for gaskets and bolts in one deal. Still undecided on a sinister delete for the EGR. does shutting it off alone really help, at this point another 300 bucks seems like chump change.

Was able to work on the truck today. going back together good. Torquing the heads was a chore. Wonder what the ultimate torque is? Next problem. Got my mini maxx today. Gleefully opened it up and no install manual. Tried to get h&s website to come up but I get a DNS error. E-mailed the vendor but will probably not here from them till Monday. Anyone want to help by throwing up the directions? Has H&S passed from this world? Things that make you go hmmmm.

You can just search H&S mini maxx install instructions and it'll be the first thing that pops up in Google.

Yeah my box says .com as well. But I opened my manual and compared it to the online pdf I posted here and it was the same so I went with it lol. Glad you're making headway!

There's nothing worse than having to rely and wait on somebody else in times of need. I had always heard H&S had great customer service though.

Hey had great CS till the epa shut them down... They still make hard parts but no longer offer, support, or have anything to do with tuning.

If your tuner came in a white box it didn't even come from H&S, it was modified/retuned by the vendor.

Is it a bad thing to have one that was retuned by the vendor? Is it still the same tuning or did I just pay 1200 for a mini maxx monitor and some Rudys tuning lol

Herb you got one of the few leftover (provided it isn't just re-used packaging), bubba's is exactly what I was talking about.

They still work, but they aren't directly from H&S... They are reprogrammed (bullydog if I remember correctly, don't quote me though.) tuners.
