I installed the electronic brake controller on a f150 and it doesn't work.
It is a from the dealer part and they are being no help. checked power going in on the black wire all is well. power heading out blue wire nothing with the pedal or slide. scroll through the dash and the Gain feature doesn't come up is there something I need to do to get that feature fired up.
Nope. The dealer has to hook it up to the Ford diagnostic computer to enable it. No way around that. It will cost anywhere from $30-90 depending on your dealer and how they bill for shop time. They'll charge an hour at some half an hour at others. You may be able to negotiate since they told you it was a simple plug and play.

I installed the factory controller on my dad's '10 F150 a year ago. There were instructions in the box on how to turn the feature on with the Ford IDS that your dealer will have. Should have left it for the dealer, it took them awhile to figure out how to turn it on!
So I found a private shop near the house (Cary, NC) that owns there own IDS and was able to do this for me. From what the Tech was telling me, the manufacturer scan tools have come way down in price and that the IDS only cost the shop a couple of grand to purchase.
Super great guys. I'd recommend them any day of the week!
Modern Service in Cary. I did take them the instructions, just because I like to be thorough.
