Is this rust bad?

Well, take a look at the pics. I think im just going to put a plate inside the door, but what about the bed and frame? Can i just cut the wheel wells off the bed and put fender flares? Can I just spray the frame with spray paint?

the frame looks fine, just wire brush/wheel it off and paint with your preferred brand of paint. The body rust will have to be cut out and replaced. For the bed sides, you could cut out and weld in new panels but the rust will come back. Your best bet would be to replace the whole bed side.

Well, im doing a flatbed conversion, so im not concerned about the bed. My fear is when I was on the truck hunt, I looked at a f250 with umdercoat on the frame and when I got there there was a hole through the frame and he blamed the coat. Is there any truth to that?

It's up to you. I painted my frame with rustoleum. Diesel Brad has extensive experience with POR 15 which is another great alternative. I've never used it so I don't know a whole lot about it. I'm sure he'll chime in eventually

Rustoleum rust remover works great at you guessed it removing rust, good ol aerosol spray paint give it at least 3 coats. Another alternative is to bedline the chassi

I coat mine twice a year with fluid film. I'm not a fan of undercoating these old trucks.... I tried it and since there was rust previously it can cause peeling issues an such. Had good luck with the fluid film tho

Wash the frame real good get some 3x rust converter and some 3x encapsulator

But really there is no point in doing just what you can see on the frame if you want to do it right take everything off and then do the entire frame
