I havea 2002 F250 Super Duty 7.3. Had an issue last December where the locks started going up and down, interior lights flashed. Ford had it for 3 days and couldnt find anything. Nothing happened until tonight. Came out of store and used remote to unlock when the locks started to dance again. The door ajar dash light (little vehicle w/4 doors) flickered on and off and the door buzzer constantly buzzed.
Got home, put it in park and the dome light and mileage numbers started to flash so I shut the truck off.
Heard clicking sound under the dash. I took both neutral cables off the batteries so I can at least get to work.
Does anyone have ANY idea of what this could be ? supposed to haul two horses this weekend but Im not sure I can
The door locks are all controlled by the Vehicle Security Module - VSM - on the 2002 trucks either by using the remote or the physical door lock switch.
Also you mentioned the dash and dome lights flashing/flickering. Don't know for sure, but does the VSM flash those when a security issue is recognized?
I would at least have the dealer reseat the connectors on that module. The only reason I say that is I don't know what reaction the VSM would take if you just reseated them without some sort of precaution.
It's most likely your instrument cluster.
Talk to the folks at Circuitboard medics, they can help you.
Ford Stealerships are useless when it comes to this issue.
