Weekend towing report
Well I got to enjoy the 6.7 on the highway for a light tow this weekend. I ran up to Manhattan hauling a few cabinets and no trailer. I came back with a U-haul vehicle trailer and a BMW 328i. I don't know what the trailer weighs but I estimate 4400lbs for car and trailer. I finished the 300+ mile roundtrip including some city drivng and one regen at 16.2mpg. I could only go 55mph on the way back because the trailer tires were badly out of balance. I did have the usual Kansas headwind in both directions. Overall I don't think anyone could complain about that kind of mileage. The best thing is I had 100% fuel when I left and 100% when I got back without stopping for fuel. Thank you RDS.

Kind of a long story. I bought the 1997 328I for my son last November when his car got hit and was a total loss. He goes to KSU which is about 2.5 hours from me. I had limited time and limited funds to replace his car. It needed a water pump so I had that done here in town so he could come pick it up. It was fine until last Friday when he called and said it was running hot. I told him to ride home with his girlfriend and we would see about something better for him. So we got him a 2006 Explorer last Saturday. I went up to get the BMW so the shop can have a look at it. It was about 1/2 gallon low on coolant. I topped it off and drove it all weekend without issue other than it appears to be leaking a little at the water pump. So, this morning it went back to the shop so they can sort it out under warranty. My 15 year old is learning to drive so he is getting the 328 as his first car. By the way, I learned that you can't fight the wind out here. If I'm towing the 5th wheel into a headwind here I just try to do 60. I still only get 8-9mpg at that.
