EGT probe
Over the years I have gotten a few EGT probes. Are they all the same as far as giving a reading? Two of mine have the same plugs and another doesn't have a plug. The gauge in the picture was in the truck when I got it, says Gear on it. It used the band clamp set-up in the picture but I want to get that ring off of it and see if I can put the fitting on it from one of the others. If that doesn't work I'll try one of the others but didn't know if I would get an accurate reading.

They're shipped and calibrated with whatever length of wire comes in the kit the gauge is shipped with. You trim the wire it throws off the reading as the resistance of the wire is different.
At least mine was.

Glenn, if you get the special tool you can remove the pins from the weather pack connector with no cutting. The tool is usually available at most parts stores. Lisle brand. I can put a pic up fir reference if you want to go that route. One wire at a time through the band should fit it looks like.

OK, thanks. I was just thinking about putting in another probe on the passenger side. I have the gauge but it had that stupid band clamp on it which I will not use, they leak to much.
